The instant messaging app has officially hit 800 million monthly active users, which is an increase of 100 million over the past 6 months. That makes it the fastest growing app last year and the second most popular iOS app (with Facebook itself taking the top spot).

This announcement comes alongside plans to expand the messaging service to integrate businesses more effectively, with the aim of consolidating daily tasks like booking transport or contacting customer service systems into one platform.
