Google My Business Updates

Google has announced a number of updates to the Google My Business Application Programming Interface (API). Designed to make the interface more efficient and user-friendly, the update’s main features include an agency dashboard and a Partners program.

With more than one third of all mobile searches relating to location (according to Google) it’s not hard to see why Google would want to try and make this feature as intelligible as possible.

The Dashboard

The Google My Business API helps developers make the most of business location information.

Even before the most recent updates were introduced, the API was already a valuable tool for managing complex Google My Business accounts.

The new dashboard will further enhance the API’s functionality with the following features:

  • Account holders will now be able to register an unlimited number of locations on Google My Business (locations were previously limited to 100)
  • Improved search functions will allow users to search for a location within an account and across location groups
  • User Groups will be able to better manage internal teams by controlling access to locations
  • The workflows are better designed for sending and receiving invitations to manage listings.

The Partner Program

The Google My Business Partners program will offer additional benefits to registered users. Agencies that meet the program’s criteria will be able to use the Google My Business features earlier than anyone else, while also being given access to a partner manager.

Not sure if you meet the criteria for the Google My Business Partners program? You don’t need to have a specific number of business locations, but there are some requirements involved. Find out if you qualify by visiting the sign-up page.
