THE CLIENT

Macrack are a Brisbane-based producer and distributor of industrial pallet racking and storage solutions. As a locally owned business, their primary audience is the local Brisbane market.

THE OBJECTIVES

The key KPI Macrack set was to get the site onto page 1 for the keyword “pallet racking Brisbane” – their most important and competitive term. Before hiring our SEO services, they didn’t rank in the top 100 for that term.

Otherwise, our targets were to increase organic exposure by improving the rankings of their other 304 tracked keywords.

THE STRATEGY

A comprehensive audit of their backlink profile revealed an incredible volume of links from Japan. Further investigation into these destination URLs revealed an entire Japanese handbag website embedded within the Macrack.com.au domain. This was the cause of an algorithmic penalty, so the first few months of SEO work were dedicated to working with Macrack’s developer to remove this website from the domain, disavow all associated backlinks, and start fresh.

The website itself was not in good shape from an SEO point of view, with a large number of technical SEO and over-optimisation issues (keyword stuffing, etc.).

We worked with Macrack over the coming year to vastly improve the sites on-page content, internal linking practises, keyword targeting, and most importantly, improve the quality and relevance of their backlink profile.

THE RESULTS

The results from the campaign delivered on Macrack’s KPIs terrifically. Within a single year, organic traffic on the site had increased by 603.1%.

On the keyword front, the improvements were just as staggering. Prior to our involvement, none of their tracked 305 keywords ranked in the top 50 on Google organically. After around 20 months of SEO work, we had:

  • 8% of tracked keywords ranking position 1
  • 16% within the top 3 results
  • 57% within the top 20 results.
